Hundreds of thousand demonstrators Celebrate 31 Years Iranian Islamic Revolution

Hundreds of thousands of Iranian citizens held demonstrations in Tehran, Iran for 31 years commemoration marking the Islamic revolution in that country. Iranian security forces reported clashes with opposition supporters in this action.

In demonstrations this massive, Iranian security forces fired shots and tear gas into the supporters of opposition leader Mirhossein Mousavi.

According to the Iranian opposition website, quoting Green Voice as reported by eyewitnesses told Reuters news agency on Thursday (11/2/2010).

"The security forces opened fire into the demonstrators and fired tear gas in central Tehran," the website reported.

No news on whether or not the victim in this mass action.

Iranian television station showed thousands of Iranian demonstrators carrying Iranian flags and carried pictures of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, founder of the Iranian nation and the image of his successors Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Even other Iranian opposition website reported, security forces hold the grandson of the late Iranian revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. According to the website Jaras, a woman named Zahra Eshraqi and her husband Mohammad Reza Khatami, was arrested during demonstrations. Reza Khatami is the brother of former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami.

According to Jaras, the son of prominent opposition leader Mehdi Karoubi also detained.
